Marginalia is operated by JINYAN LLC. We hold unpublished research for as short a time as the service needs it, never use it to train models, and list everyone who processes it.

  1. 01

    What we collect

Your manuscript: the file you upload and the text we extract from it. Your reports: the findings and reference checks we produce. Your account: name, email address and, if you sign in with Google, your Google account identifier. Payments: handled by Stripe; we receive the amount and a payment reference, never your card details.

We record page events (upload, scan finished, unlock clicked, payment) to understand how the product is used. These events never contain manuscript text, titles or file names.

  2. 02

    How long we keep it

Original files and their extracted text are deleted 30 days after your report is ready, or 30 days after upload if you only ran a free scan. You can delete them sooner, or delete a manuscript with all its reports, from your account. Reports stay until you delete them or your account.

  3. 03

    Models and training

Manuscripts are reviewed by open-weight language models through a single gateway under zero-retention terms: providers process the text to answer the request and keep nothing afterwards. Neither we nor they use your manuscript to train any model.

  4. 04

    Who processes your data

Hosting and storage, model access, reference lookups, payments and email are handled by the subprocessors listed on our security page, with what each one sees and where.

  5. 05

    Your rights

You can see, export or delete your data at any time from your account, or by writing to us. Deleting your account removes your manuscripts, reports and stored files.
